Professional Mentor

Upon your arrival you will be greeted by your professional mentor, Safia Fazal, who will have overall responsibility for the training programme and ensure you have access to high quality professional development. You will be asked to complete a baseline evaluation to help us create a bespoke CPD program that meets your individual and university requirements.

Professional Mentor: Safia Fazal

Background: I’ve worked as a careers and work experience coordinator, curriculum coordinator in Science, and associate head of year. Presently, I serve as a lead practitioner, overseeing the trainee teacher program and the entire school’s engagement in teaching and learning. My mission is to inspire aspiring educators, ensuring every student receives exceptional education.

Subject Mentor

Trainees are also assigned a subject mentor, who will be responsible for support and regular feedback, enabling trainees to develop their teaching by modelling techniques. We have a phased approach to help staff develop – we begin with team teaching, gradually increasing teaching portion as each phase has been mastered. Our mentors are expertly trained to coach and aid trainee teacher development. Your subject mentor will meet with you weekly for a scheduled meetings and provide you with continual feedback to help develop your teaching and learning practice.
