We’re appealing for witnesses after gunshots were fired in Smethwick last night (7 February).
It happened on Windmill Crescent just before 9pm.
We believe a man was being chased by another man with a shotgun.
A dark-coloured vehicle was also seen in the area.
We believe someone may have been injured but no victims have come forward.
So, if you were in Windmill Crescent or Windmill Lane just before 9pm, and saw anything please contact us.
An investigation is ongoing including a CCTV trawl, speaking to witnesses and a forensic examination of the scene.
We’re urging anyone with any information and who has not yet spoken to us – or anyone who has dashcam footage – to get in touch.
We’re also asking the person who may have been injured to contact us so we can make sure they are okay. We have checked local hospitals but would urge anyone who may be aware that someone they know has been injured to contact us.
Detective Inspector Jackie Nicholson, from our force CID, said: “Our primary concern is to make sure that anyone who may have been injured is okay and receiving any medical treatment they need.
“Guns have no place on our streets and we want to find those responsible for using them.
“I’d ask anyone with any information to please get in touch.”
You can contact us via live chat or call 101. Alternatively call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 – you tell them what you know, not who you are. Please quote log 4180 of 7 February.
